Standards

In the main Cape Flying Services concentrates on full-time live-in Pilot Training Courses,.Our training courses comply with all requirements laid down by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) as well as those laid down by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (S.A.C.A.A)

The standards are higher than those required by most countries. Our training is designed to meet the levels required by British, European and Australian Aviation Authorities.

Aircraft and Maintenance
Cape Flying Services maintains a well equipped fleet of Piper, Cessna and Jabiru Aircraft. The Piper and Cessna aircraft are maintained by a Maintenance facility based directly opposite Cape Flying Services, ensuring the minimum amount of downtime. Our Jabiru aircraft are maintained by the factory located on the airport and no more than two hundred meters away.

Flying Instructors
Gerald Todd heads the dedicated team of professional flight instructors, averaging 1,500 hours of instruction. All flight training is on a one-to-one basis and conducted simultaneously with the academic side (ground school). Having your own instructor throughout the course and following a structured personal programme gives you the best chance of achieving your objective. We assess the progress of all our students on a daily basis to ensure that you advance in accordance with the flight training schedule. Your instructor will tell you that, while the courses are immense fun, they are hard work. Flying, whether for fun or as a career, requires discipline and a responsible attitude. It is therefore important that students conduct themselves in a manner befitting Professional Pilot status.

Facilities
The facilities at Cape Flying Services consist of a large hangar which houses the administration offices and an adjacent building containing lecture room, instructors’ office and entertainment area consisting of a bar, small kitchen and pool table. This is where all student activities take place from examinations to parties to celebrate each solo flight. There is a great social atmosphere when the more serious daily activities are over. Outside there is a "braai" area.
